My store loads slowly, how to fix it

Page history last edited by Eugene 1 year, 10 months ago

Ecwid was designed as a very fast shopping cart. It uses some solutions which allow it to work much faster than common classic shopping carts.

So if for some reasons your Ecwid store loads slowly, it is defintly a problem which should be fixed.

There are many possible reasons of it: browser issues, problems with Internet connection, site issues etc. In order to find the root cause of the issue, perform some checks.

Check it in different browsers

First of all check how your store is loading in other browsers. If you store works without issues in all browsers except one, it means that something is wrong with it. Try to disable its extenstions/plugins, try to check your site in the same browser but on a different computer.

For example if your store is slow in Firefox with Firebug installed, try to disable it temporarily. It's a known fact, that enabled Firebug can slow down the AJAX sites.

Check different sites

Check how our demo store works: http://www.ecwid.com/demo-frontend.html

Then check how the test "simple-store"  works: http://app.ecwid.com/jsp/STORE_ID/simple-store (where STORE_ID is your actual store id, for example http://app.ecwid.com/jsp/1003/simple-store )

If the "simple-store" and our demo work without issues, it means there is something wrong with your site and some of its elements slow the things down.

If your demo works fine, but your site and "simple-store" don't, it means something is wrong with your Ecwid store.

Check the Internet connection

It's also a good idea to check how your store loads on a completely different computer with different Internet connections.
